Disney Movies to Watch this Winter

Happy December! From the wintry weather to the Holiday spirit, December is, without a doubt, my favorite month of the year. One of my favorite ways to enjoy December is by watching winter and holiday movies—and of course, if those movies are Disney-related, that is always a bonus! With Disney+ available, my favorite movies for the season are even more accessible. In fact, there are a lot of Disney-owned seasonal movies on Disney+. If you have Disney+, you can check out the entire collection under the "Happy Holidays" collection, but here are some of my favorite Disney winter movies to watch, whether you have Disney+ or not.

The Frozen Collection

Sure there's Frozen and Frozen 2, but there are plenty of Frozen shorts that are equally wintry and charming. Olaf's Frozen Adventure and Once Upon a Snowman are perfect for Olaf lovers, and they deliver maximum wintry content. While it isn't on Disney+, Frozen Fever is another cute one; if you haven't seen the adorable Snowgies yet, you're missing out.

They're even cuter in the short.

Home Alone

If you're up for a classic, there are few movies better than Home Alone (though I would skip the third one). Yes, Home Alone 2 is essentially the same plot as the original, but it somehow works anyway, and it also gives us the iconic "Merry Christmas ya filthy animal!"

Mickey Movies

I maintain that Mickey's A Christmas Carol is the best A Christmas Carol adaptation out there (haha, kidding... Am I?) There's also the delightful Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas and Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas. All three of these are under 30 minutes, so they're perfect if you're in the mood for just a quick film.

Beauty and the Beast

Okay, so the original film isn't technically a winter movie, but it has some serious winter vibes (or maybe I am purely thinking of the scene where Belle and Beast are in the snow). Regardless, the spinoff Beauty and the Beast: An Enchanted Christmas is a fun addition to the story with some serious winter vibes, including a cute enchanted ornament and lots of snow.

Doesn't this just fill you with sweet, Christmas vibes?

Muppet's A Christmas Carol

I still prefer Mickey's version, but the Muppet's are a close runner-up. If you want more Muppet Christmas content, then you should definitely listen to the Muppet's version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," which is both a bop and hilarious.

The Santa Clause

Now I'll be honest: The Santa Clause series was never my favorite growing up, and it's not one I rewatch a lot now. However, it is a fun concept, and I'm including it here because I know it's a fan favorite.

Miracle on 34th Street

While it's not my favorite holiday movie, I can't deny that Miracle on 34th Street is a classic. There are several versions of this classic, and Disney+ streams the original 1947 version.

Bonus: Movies on My To-Watch List

Of course, there are several movies on my to-watch list, a few which I didn't get around to last year and some that are new this year. Noelle, which follows Santa Clause's daughter, is sure to be a gem. I know The Nutcracker and the Four Realms didn't do well critically, but the movie looks like it has beautiful scenery, and I love the music in The Nutcracker. Finally, Godmothered seems like the perfect blend between Christmas movie tropes and Disney magic.

This winter scene is the dream.

This made me even more excited to finish my college semester and start spending more time celebrating the season! After this post, I plan to take a small hiatus for some serious R and R but don't worry—I'll be back soon for more Disney fun soon.
